Lesson 4: News


Introduction:

In this lesson, you'll read recent news stories about the companies you've chosen for your We Seed Portfolio. You'll look for news events and examine how they might affect the companies' stock prices.

Overview:

Students will read recent stories about the companies they have invested in. News stories can either be found in the "Market News" portion of any company page on We Seed, or on reputable news sites from newspapers, CNN Money, Google Finance, etc. Each student will complete a worksheet about the news articles they read and explain whether they believe these stories will affect their companies. Students can adjust their We Seed Portfolios and explain any changes they make.

Learning Objectives:
  • Become exposed to business media
  • Learn more about popular companies and brands
  • Integrate current events into decision making on investments
Learning Environment:

The exercise should be conducted in a computer lab or as a homework assignment.

Time requirement:

45 minutes

Prerequisites:

Students should have satisfactorily completed all previous lessons.
