Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT)

Everyone knows the story here: Sam Walton started with one store in Rogers, Arkansas, in 1962, and now the massive stores are everywhere. The average Wal-Mart has groceries, electrical appliances, clothing — everything from organic greens to massive big-screen TVs. If you're into wholesale clubs, check out the related Sam's Club stores.

Wal-Mart (WMT) has entered the market of movie distribution by agreeing to buy online video service Vudu. Vudu allows customers to view movies instantly on their TVs after ordering the films online and has licensing agreements with major movie studios as well as independent and international distributors, offering a total of 16,000 movies. Now, Wal-Mart may be a potential threat to companies such as Netflix (NFLX). Wal-Mart decreased in sales this past quarter in after-holiday shopping, but buying Vudu may have been a smart decision. What do you think?

Google (GOOG) wants to be so much more than a search engine. Not only did Google announce its first venture into the smart phone world with Nexus One, the search giant also announced their very own Web store, which is now up and running. The store lets users take a 3D tour of the Nexus One, check out some of the apps available and order the device at $529. Google's model is unique because instead of picking a carrier first and then a phone, the consumers can pick a phone first, and then decide on a carrier. In fact, Google doesn't even have to make a profit on the Nexus One—all the company has to do to is get people to be on the Internet more, because that's where Google displays its ads and that's how they make money. The Nexus One is available exclusively at the Google Web store, but is rumored to be coming soon to Wal Mart (WMT). Could choosing your own carrier be worth the price?

walmart sells for cheep and has good stuff but the only reason they are cheep is because they have cheep food. they are cheep because they sell cheep stuff. i hate how big their store is because you dont know where anything is and they got rid of a bunch of stuff that they used to have. i think that walmart will make me more money but personally i hate the new walmart
