Jaimie Alexander recently confirmed she was returning to play Sif again in the upcoming Thor sequel. Now Golden Globe-winner Idris Elba confirms to MTV News (VIA) he'll be reprising the role of Heimdall as well. Big news for Thor fans, right?
After the third installment made just under $108 million in the U.S. alone, it???s no surprise that a Paranormal Activity 4 would be here just in time for Halloween 2012. The found-footage series has become Paramount Pictures (VIA) yearly sure thing, since the low-budget thrillers have each earned more than $80 million domestically. Paramount released annoucment that reads: In 2012, Paramount's release slate highlights include 'World War Z,' a zombie thriller starring Brad Pitt and directed by Marc Forster, 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation,' the next installment in the global franchise starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Channing Tatum, a new chapter in the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise, and 'The Dictator,' starring Sacha Baron Cohen and directed by Larry Charles, the team behind 'Borat. For the first time in more than a decade, Paramount Pictures (VIA) is ending the year as the box office champion. The strong showing of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, which took in $46.2 million over the Christmas holiday pushed Paramount???s receipts over the top to $1.86 billion for the year (as of Dec. 25). That put it ahead of the usual winner, Warner Bros (TWX), whose total for the year reached $1.76 billion. Sony (SNE) finished in third place with $1.3 billion, just ahead of Disney (DIS) with $1.2 billion. The highest-grossing movie of the year was Warner Bros.??? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, which earned $381 million domestically. The No. 2 film was Paramount???s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which grossed $352.4 million, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. Do you agree?
Celebrities, watch your backs. Ashton Kutcher is reviving Punk???d. MTV (VIA) has officially announced the return of the hit prank show, Punk???d, which was once hosted by none other than Kutcher. While the Two and a Half Men star will return as executive producer, there???s no word on who will be doing the punking. It was originally reported that Justin Bieber would take the reigns, but there???s been no official update. Viewers will be treated to an exclusive first look at a clip from an all-new season of the series ??? which will return to the network in 2012 ??? during MTV???s annual New Year???s Eve party, set to air Saturday, December 31, at 11 p.m. ET, live from MTV's Times Square studio. Rumors have been swirling about new hosts and new celebrity victims, which will all be put to rest when MTV presents the first look at footage of the new season on NYE in NYC 2012. What do you think? Melissa Rycroft and Jennie Garth are both getting reality shows on CMT (VIA). Projects starring the former Bachelorette and the Beverly Hills, 90210 star were just giving series orders by the network. Rycroft will star with her husband Tye Strickland in Melissa and Tye: A New Reality (working title), which follows Rycroft moving to Los Angeles to pursue her Hollywood career while managing a long-distance relationship with her husband. Garth, who is married with three kids, is taking the opposite route: She???s moving with her family from Los Angeles to a seven-acre farm in Central California. The title: I Love Jennie. It was only a matter of time really. The younger half-sisters of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe are in talks to get their own spin-off programs on the E! Network (VIA).14-year-old Kylie and 16-year-old Kendall have made cameos on all the various Kardashian reality TV series. In a strange twist, it???s the teenage daughters who actually have showbiz jobs. Unlike the older Kardashians who have become famous for being famous, both Kendall and Kylie are models. The real kind, not the ???modeling??? for Midori Sour and Sketcher Shape-Ups like Kim K sometimes does. What do you think of these two having a show? Is E! becoming the Kardashian network?
Classic TV fans this is music to your ears. Mary Tyler Moore co-stars Betty White and Ed Asner will appear in an episode of TV Land???s (VIA) Hot in Cleveland that???s slated to air in the sitcom???s batch of new episodes next summer. The half-hour will shoot in February. Cleveland???s third season recently premiered, on Nov. 30. There are currently no details about what kind of role Asner will play on the show, but you can probably expect a wink or two to the pair???s time on Mary Tyler Moore. The show???s other principal cast have also seen reunions with their old sitcom cohorts: Valerie Bertinelli with One Day at a Time co-star Bonnie Franklin and Jane Leeves with Frasier co-star John Mahoney (who???s also returning this season). Wendie Malick will share the screen with her Just Shoot Me! co-star Laura San Giacomo in the series??? upcoming Dec. 14 episode. What do you think of these reunions?
Last summer, VH1?s (VIA) scripted series Single Ladies, about friends dating in Atlanta, became a big hit for the network, which quickly greenlit a second season. Then star Stacey Dash (Clueless) shocked fans when she announced in August that she wouldn???t be returning for another year of the show in order to spend more time with her children in LA. Enter actress Denise Vasi, from USA???s (GE) White Collar and ABC???s (DIS) All My Children, who has stepped in to complete the fabulous trio. Vasi will begin shooting the second season of Ladies this January and will take on the new role of Raquel, a pal of returning castmember LisaRaye McCoy???s Keisha. What are your thoughts?
