For the first time in more than a decade, Paramount Pictures (VIA) is ending the year as the box office champion. The strong showing of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, which took in $46.2 million over the Christmas holiday pushed Paramount???s receipts over the top to $1.86 billion for the year (as of Dec. 25). Now, after 30 years, Sam Raimi and the original creators are passing the reins of their beloved classic to Sony Pictures (SNE). In this retelling, five friends hole up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead. A demonic force is unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival. Same basic plot as the original, but with much better effects. What do you think? Will you watch the remake?
