Motorola has come a long way since 1928, when it introduced one of the first commercially successful car radios. Best known for cell phones and cell phone services, Motorola operates and produces phone products, services, and applications.
Opps???Best Buy (BBY) made a boo-boo. Leaked ad from Best Buy appears to reveal more details about Motorola (MOT) Xoom. The ad says Xoom available in stores February 24 and will cost $799.99 before data. That's a week later and $100 higher than what the site's sources had previously said. The fine print underneath the main product shot, which reads, "To activate WiFi functionality on this device, a minimum of 1 month data subscription is required." So, if you thought you'd buy a Xoom -- which works on WiFi, Verizon's 3G network, and its 4G/LTE network -- and get out of paying for an extra data plan, you were wrong. (At least it's only one month.) Well, it???s amatter of who to believe. What do you think? Who do you believe?
While companies like Research in Motion (RIMM), Nokia (NOK) and HP (HPQ) struggle to keep pace with the leader that is Apple's (APPL) iPhone, Motorola (MOT) has enjoyed a nice turnaround thanks to its Droid line of smartphones. The company's mobile device unit led the way this quarter with a 20% jump in sales from last year. Mobile devices make up about a third of Motorola's total revenue. However, there is concern that Motorola, which sells its Droid phones through Verizon (VZ), may soon find itself competing with Apple for Verizon customers. It is widely expected that the iPhone, currently an AT&T (T) exclusive, will be available to Verizon customers sometime next year. So what will this mean for Motorola?
this company has promise for the future and is most likely a good thing to invest in
I think Motorola is going to be successful in not the cell-phone industry, but in other industries that include set-top boxes that will completely change the company. This will be a company that has a chance to become successful in the future.
Move over iPhone--Verizon Wireless VZ) unveiled the latest addition to its a successful line of Droid smart phones. The new Motorola (MOT) Droid X, available exclusively on Verizon's network, plus it comes with a bundle of free services, like email and text. The phone can also store an enormous stash of videos, photos and music. Droids offer all of the smart phone basics, including a large multi-touch screen, an app store, a video camera and, of course, the ability to place calls. Like Android phones on other networks, Droids offer free GPS navigation, removable batteries, true multitasking, speech recognition software and software updates. The Droid X is scheduled for July 15 release, and will cost $200 with a new two-year contract. Any customer with a contract expiring in 2010 is eligible for an early upgrade. If your on Verizon, will you check out the Droid X?
