Flying for peanuts? Southwest Airlines coined the term. The Dallas-based company specializes in no-frills, low-cost passenger service serves 63 cities in the continental United States.
The friendly skies just got a little comptitive with eachother. The latest airline commercials have two of the country's most popular low-cost carriers poking fun at each other with the help of topless men and mooing passengers. The two airlines in commercial war are Southwest Airlines (LUV) and TransAir Airways. Southwest takes a jab at AirTran's fees for checked bags. AirTran fires back with video showing Southwest passengers being treated like cattle. Try to watch the funny commercials on YouTube and you say whose is better.
Imagine boarding a flight to see your family and then being told by the airline that you can???t fly because you???re too fat???very rude and inappropriate, right? Now, if this happened to a random person, there???d be some press, but the scenario happened to writer/director/actor Kevin Smith. Talk about a public relations nightmare for Southwest Airlines (LUV). Southwest has apologized and the airline said it "could have potentially handled our communication better," but defended "the determination that Mr. Smith needed more than one seat to complete his flight comfortably." Smith says he fit comfortably in his seat, but was treated that way because of his weight. His goal is to force Southwest to change the way it deals with overweight passengers. What do you think of this whole mess? Would it make make you think twice about flying on Southwest?

i dont like bagage- 8 months ago
Umm bags Fly free? if that doesn't pick up business for them then all the airlines are screwed.
i can always find cheap tickets through southwest but i think they should offer more destinations
Last weekend, my flight was stuck on the runway at MDW for an hour due to awful snow and rain. This wasn't Southwest's fault at all, but the next day they sent me a $60 voucher! Other than the great customer service, I'm always pleased with the simplicity of the LUV process.

I gotta agree. This airline is profitable, good to its clients, and popular. I have taken a real beating with their stock lately -- been in the black only once in the past two months -- but not gonna sell. I can't resist where I see the stock price was before last October. And consistently so. Gonna keep my eye on the prize (as hard as it is right now)- about 1 year ago
Snowflake thinks if Southwest Airlines were a bottle of wine, it'd be a riesling.
