So, is no one else bummed out by the Roche takeover? I admit that the only reason I'm bummed is because I really liked Genentech as a company, and I know nothing about Roche...anyone have some insight for me?
Roche is tough, aggressive, VERY GERMAN...and has always done well. its a good fit....The Roche Germans will make Genentech perform well and make a profit. Genentech has lots of great ideas, but they run by a bunch of genius scientists who don't know much about finance or profits. Genentech has made billions on just its name and has not brought anything much to the market. But, the seeds are there for Genentech to do extremely well...with Roche in the driver's seat.- over 2 years ago
"On March 26, 2009, Roche completed its acquisition of Genentech pursuant to a short-form merger in which Genentech became a wholly-owned member of the Roche Group. Roche had announced earlier in the day the successful completion of its tender offer, which expired on Wednesday, March 25. In connection with the merger, all remaining public shareholders will, subject to appraisal rights, receive $95.00 per share for their shares. Genentech's common stock will no longer be traded on the New York Stock Exchange after Thursday, March 26."
