TVs seem to be more ubiquitous than carbon atoms. This media network is the provider of the infomercials that keep you tuned into the TV while waiting in the grocery line or in the doctor's office. They also produce those documentaries on animals that are so gosh-darned cute (and kinda interesting, too).
Late Apple (AAPL) co-founder Steve Jobs revolutionized the way we consume pop culture, so it's fitting that his life's work will be remembered on TV. Jobs' work will be highlighted on the Discovery Channel (DISCA) with an hour-long special called, iGenius: How Steve Jobs Changed the World. Hosted by MythBusters team Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, the documentary will feature interviews with those whose lives and careers were impacted by Jobs. From musicians Stevie Wonder and Pete Wentz to former Apple employees to media figures like Tom Brokaw and Billboard's Bill Werde, the interviews aim to honor and explore how their lives were changed by Jobs. Discovery's iGenius: How Steve Jobs Changed the World will air Sunday, Oct. 16th. Will you watch?

Wow, it???s been like a roller coaster for Kate Gosselin. First a very public divorce, criticism against her as a mother and her embarrassing performance on Dancing With the Stars. We hoped that was the last of Gosselin, but TLC, owned by Discovery Comm. (DISCA) has already given her two shows. Now, reportedly Gosselin is working on a deal to do a new reality dating series on ABC (DIS). Seriously can you see a group of men fighting for the affections of the mother of eight???really ABC? What do you think?
You ready to see even more of Kate Gosselin? As if we haven???t seen enough of her stiff frame on Dancing With the Stars, but it is reported that she???ll be returning to reality TV. She and her 8 kids are headed back to TLC (DISCA). Gosselin is going to star in her own series, Twist of Kate, as well as several Kate Plus 8 specials. In Twist of Kate, Gosselin will use fan letters from women inspired by her story as the basis for profiles of women facing their own challenges. Twelve episodes will start airing in late summer. The Kate Plus 8 series of specials will air in June and will focus on Gosselin's new role as single mom. What do you think? Will you tune in?
Many people who watch the TLC network (DISCA) may not remember when those letters stood for The Learning Channel. It was an educational channel with family-friendly viewing. The current programming includes super-size families, baby beauty queens and the recently announced Sarah Palin's Alaska. People now question the network. TLC has branched out seemingly into other networks' territories with shows such as Cake Boss (about the life of a bakery owner and his family), L.A. Ink (tattoo artists) and Say Yes to the Dress (bridal gown shopping). Remember when TLC had uncontreversial shows like Trading Spaces, A Baby Story and What Not To Wear? Do you miss the old TLC?
Ready or not, prepare yourselves for some Sarah Palin reality. Discovery Communications (DISCA) has bought the series, called Sarah Palin's Alaska, for in excess of $1 million per episode. Hosted by the former governor of Alaska, the show will reportedly focus on the characters, traditions and attractions in the U.S.'s northernmost state. The premiere date has yet to be revealed. Palin already has a best-selling book out and is a paid Fox News (NWS) contributor.
TLC has picked up Palin???s eight-part documentary- almost 2 years ago
TLC (DISCA) has given Kate the opportunity to ???answer your questions about life, the show and moving on??? in a one-hour special episode of Jon and Kate Plus Eight called ???You ask, Kate answers.??? Viewers can submit questions on the show's website. The special, by the way, airs the same day she and Jon are due in court to try reach a financial settlement. What do you want answered from the now-single mom of eight kids? Or are you just sick of the Gosselin???s?
The painful reality show Jon and Kate Plus Eight is over. TLC, owned by Discovery Communications (DISCA) has decided to cancel the reality series next month. TGIOver! This comes just a couple weeks after the network decided to change the name to Kate Plus 8, a new series that would have debuted in November, but Jon has legally refused the taping of kids. Think TLC will take a hit from dropping this series?
