AMC???s (CVC) 1960s mad men may be soon joined by some goodfellas from the same era. The cable network, home of such acclaimed series as Mad Men and Breaking Bad, has put in development a series version of one of the most praised movies of all time, the 1990 Martin Scorsese mob classic Goodfellas. The idea of turning Goodfellas into a series an idea for a while. The movie Goodfellas follows the rise and fall of the Lucchese crime family associate Henry Hill and his friends from 1955 to 1980. It was nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture and director, and won one, for best supporting actor. After starting off with original concepts (Mad Men, Breaking Bad), AMC has been betting on series based on source material recently with The Walking Dead, based on a graphic novel, and The Killing, based on a Danish series. AMC (CVC) will be airing a marathon of the post-apocalyptic zombie survival series all day, Saturday, December 31st starting at 11AM EST with the pilot, ???Days Gone By??? and running up through the mid-season finale, ???Pretty Much Dead Already.??? The 13 episodes, based off of the graphic novel series by Robert Kirkman, will be aired back-to-back with the mid-season finale beginning as the clock strikes midnight to usher in 2012 (the pilot and first episode of season two are each ninety-minutes). Halloween weekend saw ratings for AMC???s (CVC) The Walking Dead edge down again. The zombie hit delivered 6.1 million viewers for its 9 p.m. airing, off 9 percent from the weekend (which was down 8 percent from the show???s second season premiere). Together with its repeat, TWD tallied 8.3 million. However, the show is still in normal post-premiere ratings dip territory. Some fans have been getting annoyed with all the angst and speeches, but the ending of Sunday???s episode ??? that must have woke you up, huh? What do you think of TWD so far? Are you a fan?

Based on the popular comic book of the same name by writer Robert Kirkman, the show is about life after the zombie apocalypse. The AMC drama drew more than 5.3 million viewers on its Halloween premiere last year, and got just as many viewers for the following week???not to mention sales of Kirkman's award-winning graphic novel, have steadily increased since the debut. One new recurring character for the anticipated season two is Rescue Me star Michael Zegen for the recurring role of Randall (nope, he???s not in the comic books, he???s a new addition to the storyline.) Breaking Bad is getting its renewal???for a final season. AMC (CVC) has picked up 16 episodes to conclude series that will bring the show to a close sometime either next year or in 2013. The deal comes after Sony shopped around "Bad" to other networks. Breaking Bad and breakout hit The Walking Dead have faced some belt tightening in recent months despite strong ratings, with some industry insiders accusing the network's deal with the showrunner and cast of the acclaimed Mad Men. Glee star Jane Lynch will host the 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 18th live on FOX (NWS). Popular shows Mad Men and Modern Family were at the top of the list when the 2011 primetime Emmy nominations were made. Overall, HBO (TWX) led the way with a total of 104 nominations in various categories. No other network or cable channel came close. AMC (CVC) was next among cable channels, receiving 29 nominations. Could Don Draper be getting axed? AMC???s biggest hit, Mad Men, may be cancelled, as show creator and AMC (CVC) have been butting heads. But great news fans???it looks like the show isn't in jeopardy of being canceled after all! All the women out there can breathe, the good-looking Jon Hamm is not going anywhere.
