by Carlos Portocarrero, WeSeed Writer Most people get angry when they find out how much money big-time CEOs take home after they get fired for messing up - these golden parachutes have them landing safely in a pile of money while the company goes hurtling to the ground. Imagine if our jobs worked that way: I would love it if I got a pink slip and a $10 million check for published a story that stretched the truth. Anyway, some Wall Street CEOs have decided that, rather than take the money and fan the flames of angry citizens around the country, they will agree to cut back their salaries when things don't go as planned. Which is always. Here is a list compiled by The Wall Street Journal of the CEOs that have agreed to take a cut when things go south: • Russ Smyth, H&R Block (HRB) • Gary Holdren, Huron Consulting Group (HURN) • Donald Knauss, Clorox (CLX) • Richard Belluzzo, Quantum (QTM) • Roy Armes, Cooper Tire & Rubber (CTB) Now we're not saying go out and buy into these companies: investing in companies based on a little detail like this would be just as bad as betting on a horse because you like its name. But stockholders are more likely to hang in there when CEOs make these kinds of concessions, don't you think? After all, there are two kinds of CEOs when it comes to dealing with bad times: the kind that take the money and run, and the kind that make it work and stick around. Which one would you rather at the helm if you own shares in their company?
