When you're Citibank, you can get away with having a single letter as your ticker symbol. The New York-based company does a lot of stuff, from investing to lending to traditional banking to putting ATMs on pretty much every street in the country. The company also owns Smith Barney, Banamex, and others.

Verizon Wireless (VZ) will soon make some customers pay for the privilege of paying their bills. The nation's largest wireless company is instituting a $2 "convenience charge" for those customers who make one-time bill payments using a debit or credit card, either online or by telephone. The fee will go into effect on Jan. 15th. There are three ways for customers to avoid the charge: Customers can make a one-time payment using an electronic check, they can pay their bill using their home banking accounts, such as Citibank (C) Online, or they can use a Verizon gift card or rebate card. Otherwise, single telephone and online payments will incur a $2 fee. Customers can still enroll in a service that will debit their bank accounts or charge their credit cards on a recurring basis for free. They can also show up at a Verizon store to pay without incurring the fee, and they can mail checks to the company. What do you think of this?

Citigroup (C) says it has discovered a security breach in which a hacker accessed personal information from hundreds of thousands of accounts and affected about 200,000 customers. According to its annual report, Citigroup has about 21 million credit card accounts in North America, where the breach occurred. The statement went on to say that the customers' Social Security numbers, dates of birth, card expiration dates and card security codes "were not compromised." This is the latest bit of bad news for Citigroup as the company's stock has plunged 15% over the last month due to uncertainty about the impact of the Wall Street reform law. Are you Citigroup customer? Does this make you have second thoughts?
I don't think this is a very good investment...it keeps losing me money
