When education companies need software to help students and instructors communicate, they turn to Blackboard. Its software programs keep everyone connected so teaching can happen no matter where students are.
I found out that blackboard is doing a mass update, and several colleges and university are choosing to pay for the upgrade.
I've attended two universities now, both had teachers who used Blackboard. Currently I'm taking my distance courses through it. They could use some design help, but they've got the idea
The university I am attending uses this service. The stock has been taking a bit of the dip since the holidays have started approaching (12/16/09)- 7 months ago
I've used blackboard. I like the layout and I know that universities are using the software all over.

They do good business with the universities. Before and by next year their stock will retain a higher worth. Especially since were a service economy. I think User Flylulu is right about their future (as commented below)- 8 months ago
while they're he market leader - their customers are frustrated... angel learning, moodle and others will eat their lunch in the long run.
Blackboard rocks. Many, many schools use it! Wave of future...connecting kids to teachers/homework at all times.
