Amazon.com (AMZN)

Sure, Amazon's a great place to get books, DVDs, headsets, and other stuff on the cheap. But did you know it also operates the popular movie database website imdb.com and other websites such as: joyo.com, shopbop.com, endless.com, a9.com and alexa.com? We didn't, either.

E-readers and e-books are the hot items of the summer. Amazon (AMZN) announces that e-books are now outselling hardcovers. News comes after prices on Amazon's Kindle and Barnes & Noble's (BKS) Nook dropped. The iPad from Apple (AAPL) also has accounted for more than 1.5 million e-book sales. Some believe e-books are the new wave of the future. Analyst predicts less than 25 percent of book sales will be in print in less than a decade. Over the past three months, Amazon sold 143 Kindle e-books in the US for every 100 hardcovers. In the last month, the difference was even bigger: 180 Kindle titles for every 100 hardbacks. Do you have an e-reader to read e-books? If so, do you use a Kindle, Nook or iPad?

it was pretty much the first e-reader, so a lot of people who want the latest and greatest technology go to the first to market a product. they figure that the original is the best. my mom has one and i love it. millions of books in a light, easy to read package.

So many companies are coming out with e-readers that it has turned into a full on e-reader war. Well, throw another log on the fire. Amazon (AMZN) has slashed the price on the supersize version of its Kindle by more than $100. The next generation Kindle DX???the 9.7-inch large-screen version of its portable reader???for $379. The DX offers free 3G wireless and displays graphics and text 50% more clearly than its predecessor. It also comes in a graphite color, instead of the original white. It's releasing the new version July 7th. Are you addicted to your kindle? How does the new DX sound?
